This past weekend, I visited my sister, Kara, in Kentucky. On Sunday, I went to her church. At the open of the service, the pastor’s wife quoted a scripture (Zephaniah 3:17) “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)
This obscure passage, one that I can’t recall ever noticing before, moved me to tears. That the God of the universe loves me to the point of singing songs of joy over me. It speaks profoundly of the love relationship God so desires with mankind (a two-way relationship). The real kicker, though, was Monday morning, not even 24 hours later. When I woke up, I checked my work email and found that a lady I work with (some 350 miles away) sent an email around the office referencing this very same scripture. It would seem that this was not just coincidence, but that God sometimes goes the extra mile to get our attention and to speak His love to us.
